Thank you, Dick, for bringing these poems to my attention. I restacked the first one, along with this note:

"This little poem titled ‘Sea Winds’ captures so much in only eight words, and can be found along with four others in this fine post."

By the way, brevity is a marvellous thing that readers in this busy age really appreciate. I posted a poem / song of my own on Sunday, that has only 15 lines, and it has received a great response since then. So, keep doing what you're doing!

A pleasure Martin - yeah, I saw your share - thanks so much! And I agree, 'Sea Wind' is such a gem. And thanks for the words of encouragement - means a lot! I have been writing short poetry my whole life - both free verse and English language haiku and tanka - it always felt like the right fit for me, and it has a special something I have always loved. And alongside this I have been researching and cataloguing the largely forgotten short and very short poetry for a really long time now. It's been fascinating watching it become more popular with the growth of social media and so on. It so often gets relegated to "minor" poetry status, but for me, it is the star of the show. :-) Anyway - really appreciate your encouragement. And really enjoyed your poem from Sunday - lovely work!

Holy moly - I had no idea the heat was such a major issue in Greece - but just did some reading. Far out. Record highs for us get nowhere near the heats you are experiencing - can't even imagine! Glad you are coping. Sending cool thoughts. Aw thanks - so glad they bring joy. That is a high compliment indeed. I always look forward to seeing yours as well. Just about to go read your latest!

I immediately thought of haiku and tanka when I read these. You bring us such gems that need to found and polished.

Thank you for the work you do and I have found this to be a great resource♥️

If I may presume without giving offense, I have had the opportunity to become familiar with a few lesser known 19th and early 20th Century American Black poets. Since I just started enjoying your work I am not familiar with whether or not this group of poets is represented but just in case....

Hey Christopher - many thanks for your lovely comment, and you are very welcome. It is a real pleasure. Definitely no offence at all - great question :-) Yeah, we have posted a few black poets, including Lewis G. Alexander, Gwendolyn B. Bennett, Joseph Cotter, and others. You can see a full list here: https://forgottenpoets.substack.com/t/african-american-poetry We have also done standalone books of Alexander and Bennett, available in the Forgotten Poets bookshop. :-) And I plan on adding a lot more black poets in the months to come, as I have just finished cataloguing all the poetry from The Messenger and Opportunity, both prominent African American arts magazines, from the 1920s (just getting on to cataloguing The Crisis as well). Very excited about this! Some of the poets coming up are Walter Everette Hawkins, Helene Jonson, a big Langston Hughes post, Edward Christopher Williams, Arna Bontemps, J. Crutchfield Thompson, Marie Brown Frazier, Jessie Redmon Fauset, and Fenton Johnson, among others. If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please feel welcome to let me know, or message me - always very excited to hear about new poets, especially those who have been underrepresented or ignored. Thanks again for the lovely comment - and it is very nice to (virtually) meet you. Always up for chats about poetry. :-)
