Aw cheers Egret! That's such a lovely compliment. You're most welcome - that book has been with me for many years, and changed my life. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks so much for the recommendation Sherman - absolutely love the poem you’ve linked here - stunning! Looking forward to checking out more of their work! 💜
Fascinating and enjoyable, Dick, even the ones that left me (bear of little brain) wondering - I guess that’s (part of) the point? Congrats on the forthcoming book!
Cheers Thomas - as a fellow bear of little brain haha, I have trouble with knowing quite what I was getting at in some of them too, but I thought I would stay faithful to the me who wrote them, and include them anyway. Honestly, I think most of them are more simple than they look? They're mostly just lists of things haha. And cheers on the cograts too - so excited! Cannot wait to get the test copies so we can just release it :-)
Forgotten Press - which is me lol (it's the press I do the Forgotten Poets series through) :-) Self-published all the way haha. I did all the design and cover and stuff, and me and Laurence did the editing and whatnot. But I do have pipe dreams about maybe expanding the contemporary poetry arm of it, and doing some other people as well at some point, especially if the newsletter continues to grow.
That’s great, Dick. I often think how many luminaries of English literature were self-published (or an equivalent of their era) ... Philip Sidney, Donne, Herbert, Blake. Wordsworth... good to see Dick Whyte adding to the list. 🙂
Aw thanks Fotini - it's a odd bunch, but it feels good to take them out for a stroll :-) Haha - yeah, that's a particularly odd one. I feel like your final comment sums up my entire approach to metaphysics and poetry now, though it took me a long time to get here: when I stopped trying I finally saw the words. :-)
Cheers Shondra - really appreciate it. I haven’t drawn in years but looking back on these I feel like I should start again - and your comment inspires me to follow that feeling :-)
Sometimes metaphysical poems can get a bit hard to grasp and relate with as a reader. I thought this managed to walk that line really well though.
It did take me a moment to understand that page with the "sun" in the middle, but that's what I mean... In some metaphysical poems, those floating letters might have been only "evocative mystical gibberish," (which can definitely be delightful in its own way) but here I found something that I could actually grasp and relate with, after staring at it for a bit.
Aw thanks Hasse! You words mean a lot. Yeah, I struggled with this for a while, and with poetry in general. Hahaha - yeah, love me some evocative metaphysical gibberish at the right time! But yeah, I was trying to get at something which wasn't quite at that level (although it makes me wonder if those old letter poems did have meaning, if you knew the right way to read them? lost to time now though, so I guess it's much of a muchness).
These poems turned me on this morning—what a spark. and many thanks for sharing A Thousand Plateau’s. Well done

Absolutely love this, Dick! I do love playing with form!
Thanks so much Carolyn! Yeah - playfulness with form is so much fun. And can lead to some really interesting places. Yay for that.
It strikes me that you might be interested in the work of Orlando White, a Navajo poet who often works with their tribal language in visual ways.

Can I ask who the publisher is?

Aw thanks for saying that Thomas! It’s really encouraging and a great thing to remember as a self-publisher. 💜
Love the drawings and the poems! The 'sun' gave me a hard time, but when I stopped trying I saw the words :)
