Man I loved all of this and your own poetry at the end thank you. I am so new to Haiku but it's funny this way of writing verse speaks to me in ways I cannot describe. I've been writing like this for a while without knowing. Hoping to start my own substack soon. Thanks again for the inspiration!

Super appreciate it. 25 years ago I had a similar experience to you - tanka and haikai spoke to me in ways I just couldn’t articulate - and I’d already been writing poems which seemed to echo them. So I got my first book on haiku. 25 years later and still learning, deepening, practicing. It’s a lifelong journey and one I’m so glad I embarked on.
