Hi everyone - welcome back for another episode of Jukebox. Last time I did a cover of Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay’. This time it’s one of my own songs, called Body. It’s about bodies and the sometimes uncomfortable relationship we can develop with our bodies.
I wrote it about 3 years ago, and had a demo done about 2 years ago. As with lots of my projects I eventually abandoned it, but then came across it recently and decided to finish up what was there. I recorded some more vocals, added some more synths (always more synths!), and gave it a rough mix and master. The video is made out of some footage I shot a few years back around this time of year on a trip to Taupo. It’s up on Bandcamp as well, with a new mix of ‘Stay’ as a b-side, if you’d like to support the project.
Too far gone, too far gone Here's a song for the too far gone . . . Do you remember sitting by the side of the river drying off in the sun I was feeling self-conscious about my body, just like everyone I hadn't been for a swim, it sinks in, how long it's been since I felt washed It's just the way I thought it was I never realised how much I'd lost I hadn't wanted any body to see my body in so long I hadn't wanted any body to see my body in so long It's not what you thought it was when you were younger when you thought everything was It's not what you thought it was when you were younger when you thought everything was It's not the way you wished it turned out, it's just the way it turned up, turned up It's not the way you wished it turned out, it's just the way it turned out when you turned up So turn up
