Both beautiful poems. The second got my attention more because I was thinking the last line, is the longest, and it reflects how we accumulate experiences and it's at the highest point at the end of one's life. So few words, so much meaning. The first had a sound to it that connects as you read it loud.

Agreed! :-) I love these two wee gems. Nice analysis of that long last line Pilgrim - hadn't thought about the accumulation going on from line to line. Lovely.

I enjoyed these poems, but more so the longest one. Under the seemingly contradictory verses lies some truth. Good work!

Thanks Luis! Much appreciated. Yeah - they work really well together huh, and they're the only remaining poems I can find by him, so they kind of belong together. :-)

Same! I live for the short poem. :-) All the posts here are part of a larger archive I have been putting together of forgotten poets and their short poems, from the pre-1930s period. I don't know what it is about a few lines - but it seems the perfect length to me.
